Brush Your Tongue?
Brushing your tongue, a part of the oral hygiene practice, has been around for quite some time. When you are brushing your teeth, didn’t you know your little tongue was crying out for a cleaning as well?
Turns out our tongues are full of not only taste buds but plaque and bacteria, which if left on the tongue, can lead to bad breath and bacteria growth. No one wants that especially those that you come in close contact with.
How do you brush your tongue? You should brush your tongue from the back to the front. It might be helpful to do this while you still have toothpaste in your mouth or if you dip your toothbrush in a little mouthwash. Don’t go too far back, though, or you might trigger your gag reflex. You don’t want that!
There are also devices such as tongue scrapers that you can purchase over the counter that can help literally scrape your tongue that will help rid it of plaque and bacteria. These metal devices are easy to rinse clean and store next to your toothbrush.
Now that you know how to help keep your tongue clean and happy, let us know if we can help with any other aspects of your oral care.
